Advice needed for dead-heading heads

We moved into a house that has irrigation which was installed when more of the yard was being irrigated. The previous owner let half the yard grow wild which is how we want to leave it. There are many heads in the wild area that are on zones which are used for other areas of the yard, so we can't simply turn undesired zones off. I can't remove the unwanted heads and seal them off because I need to blow the lines out in the fall (we live in a frost area). My question is: is there a cheaper alternative to using heads with water shutoff valves? Seems like a waste if I'm just using them to be able to drain the lines in the fall.
Thanks in advance.
