Sprinklers Spraying Water - System is set to OFF

We have a Nelson SmartZone EZ Sprinkler System [A8528] that was installed years ago (approx 2001 based on the manufacturer date in the control panel). We have never used the system; tried, but it didn't seem to work. Recently, one of the sprinkler heads (buried) started to leak; we noticed due to a muddy spot in our yard that we found out was a sprinkler head spraying/leaking. We capped this. Now, a few weeks later, there are a few other sprinkler heads that are spraying out water. The unit was unplugged and turned off. I went through the programming and put the length at the minimums and all and have it set to off, but it won't stop spraying. How can this be prevented? After the first leaking nozzle, we reset a circuit breaker, so not sure if that "repaired" the system, to allow the other sprinklers to spray or what is going on. But the system is "OFF"
