FHP filter placement

I am building a 4-valve drip system. Do I need to place an FHP filter after each valve or can I just install one before the valve manifold? How about pressure regulator?

A system with regulation and filtering downstream of the valves will be easier to maintain. Downstream components can be less expensive, too, since they aren't exposed to constant pressure.
