New install - Zone 1 stays open

Hey Folks, I really need help on this one.

I recently installed my system and Zone 1 will not close when I turn on the water. Below is information on what I have, and have tried in order to fix it. I have done some research on the problem but I could be missing something. I look forward to and would appreciate y'all responding 'cause I'm kinda stumped.

**system is a brand new installation

-All parts are new and out of box – even though we did buy a
bad valve and had to return it

-Zones 2 & 3 work just fine

-When main shut-off valve is turned on, Zone 1 stays on

-When zone 1 is turned ON (manually via controller) it shuts
OFF the water in zone 1

-When Zone 2 is turned on (manually via controller) Zone 1
stays on and water pressure is diminished for zone 2

-When Zone 3 is turned on (manually via controller) Zone 1
stays on and water pressure is diminished for zone 3.

-Tested controller and it is working properly – It does
control the valves

-Water flows through zone 1 with or without being connected
to the controller when water is turned on

Trouble shooting:

-Replaced valve for zone 1 numerous times (both home depot
and Orbit sent me a manifold with valves hence I have a total of 3 currently in
my possession – tried swapping out all of the valves to zone 1 with same

-Moved valve 2 to 1 AND tried moving valve 3 to 1

-Connected all valves with and without electrical

-Checked for debris in all valves

-Switched wires

-checked wiring for defects - Cut wire back to service loop and reconnected on both ends

-Swapped out at least 6 valves - two were better quality
than the orbit valves. One of the
different (commercial) valves was bad and had to be swapped out.

-had a bad controller to start but was upgraded by manufacturer
(Rachio Gen 2)

-Tried to throttle the water pressure at main (qtr turn)
shut off valve but water still flows through zone 1 at any setting on the (main)
stop cock.

-Youtube (not seeing anything posted with this same problem)

-consulted two different local installers (not trying to spend the money just to watch them scratch their head with me.

-Water pressure showed to be around at 50PSI

-3 zones

-Orbit manifold:

-Slot 1 now has a weather Matic N100F valve

3/4” (PVC & pex) pipe running to an orbit manifold

3/4” pipe (PVC & Irrigation hose) running from valves to being reduced to ½” towards
the sprinkler heads

Rainbird sprinkler heads

Rainbird wire

3/4" - ¼ turn main shut off valve

3/4" - ¼ turn shut off valve in ground at manifold

Water proof connectors

Rachio generation 2 controller

i wish I was there in person because I love fixing stuff when other people have failed.

At first it sounded like you had battery operated valves with the solenoid plunger reversed. But that's not the case.

You said this is a new install. So the conrollers new? The wiring's new and the valves are new?

Something's being overlooked for sure. I'm suspecting it has nothing to do with the new valves.

Cap the number 1 valve off and see if water still gets to the zone.

If zone one shuts off when you turn it on it sounds like you have installed the valve backwards.

I was thinking the same thing. I even had it typed in. Then I thought hmm. How could he do that 6 times?
I'm thinking I misunderstood his post. I thought he had 6 different valves do the same thing.

I can tell you that it is as weird as it sounds. There are arrows on the tops of all valves. I failed to mention that it tried THAT too.
When I turn the quarter turn valve (main -shut off) on slightly water trickles out of sprinkler heads. This suggest that it is NOT a pressure issue.
There are 6 90 degree elbows between main shut off and manifold. The last of which goes right into manifold.
I am going to cap off zone 1 @ manifold & connect as if I was connecting another valve/manifold then route it over the valves to reconnect back to zone one (because I have so many parts, because HD and the manufacturer sent me new kits. - the manufacturer didn't believe me either.).
I retraced the lines and the zones are their own separate pipes/lines.
I can't make this up. This is as strange as it sounds. I'm stumped.
