Tool to locate a cut a valve wire

What are the best tools to locate underground cut valve wires - both single and multi-strand?

A ground fault locator. I should warn you, they will find every nick in the wire.
I use an older Metrotec 810 wire locator that does a pretty good job of finding cut wires. Multi strand is difficult as the signal will jump to other wires.
