RainBird E-6 Loses Memory

The E-6 does not have a battery for backup, but the manual says it should retain clock setting and programming for 24-30 hours, probably through an internal capacitor. Which capacitor should I suspect needs replacing? Are there any after-market "24V ride-through" modules that can be connected to allow the memory to be retained during a power outage?

It may have a rechargeable battery of some sort (such as rechargeable lithium). Look for a coin cell. I may be a solder tab style thats soldered in place.

As for something to allow the unit ride out a power failure, you could use a computer type UPS. Size would depend on how long you want to back it up during a power failure.
