Installing a cistern pump horizontally

Is it possible, w/o significantly harming life of pump, to install a vertical pump horizontally? Specifically I am installing a Goulds 1SC 1hp pump. Doing this will gain me about 200 gallons of tank capacity. I believe the pump is built such that it already has a flow diverted so water moves past and helps cool the motor. I will use a floating filter attached to the pump stand to pull water from top of tank.

Pump is only lifting water about 6ft - 9 ft. Longest run is about 100'.

Any and all guidance appreciated.

Thank!
