Would like to drain sprinkler system that does not have a valve at the end of the system

I want to drain my sprinkler system that does not have a shut off valve at the end of the main line. I was thinking about trying to drain it through the backflow preventer's test cocks. I live in Texas and we don't freeze that often, but it only takes once with a system that is only six to eight inches deep. Any ideas???
