Controller sluggish on manual selection

My Hunter ICC-800PL controller has become real sluggish (slow) in responding to manually changing the selector knob. When I select Days to water for example, it may not show the program for a long time, or usually I reselect it several times before it works.
Ideas?

It's getting up in years, and the contacts on the selector dial might be getting worn. While there is no cure for a bad dial switch, you can try to develop a "jittery hand" technique to help the dial switch to make better contact.

Replace Dial Switch?

Can the dial switch be replaced?

I just tryed to select a program to run, and had to select it several times before it "accidently" selected program B which is what I wanted.

No user-serviceable parts on these. You might still be able to order a replacement panel, but you might just as easily buy a brand-new controller, and for less money.

Of course, if you only run the controller in full automatic mode, none of the switch problems will bother you. 8)
