Plastic tubing

Greetings. I have two window boxes hooked up to my lawn irrigation system. The plastic tubing that carries the water to these boxes runs outside the house, along the roof and to the boxes. The tubing has become dry and brittle and has broken in a few spots necessitating repair. I plan now to replace the whole run of tubing - what is the correct tubing material that I should use to get the longest wear? PVC or something else? thanks.
