Collecting hints/tips/advice on the use of flex tubing and assorted connections for irrigation systems. In my area, Houston, Texas, all work is done with PVC. I know that in freeze zone areas flex plays a major part in the systems. Input on problems/advantages/brand issues/tips and tricks appreciated.
Why aren't people converting to Drip irrigation?

We are not seeing the change over to drip/micro irrigation that we were expecting after the drought last year.
Considering the water restrictions in place last year and the money savings of drip I'm surprised.

There are 5 types of backflow prevention assemblies (Air Gap, AVB, PVB, DC, and RP; but, these are not all equally acceptable as protection against all types of hazards. Look here for help in choosing the correct device to protect your drinking water.

Control valves divide your system into sections or zones and are controlled by the controller. Look here for help determining which ones you need? What size should you use? Which ones are recommended for dirty water? Do you need flow control or not?

What kind of sprinklers should you use, pop-up sprays or rotors? It depends on what's being watered. There are 3 basic sprinkler types: gear driven/impact single stream rotary sprays, fixed pattern sprays, and bubblers. Is it better to use a certin brand?
