Pressure Switch Question

Thanks Wet_Boots, much appreciated. A small pressure tank upstream of the pressure switch should do it. I tried a different approach without success. I disconnected the pump wire from the controller and started the timer, assuming it would open the valves. After 5 minutes I reinserted the pump wire into the controller. No luck, the pressure still spiked. I then went to the pump, reset the pressure switch and everything worked fine. My thought was if that worked I could install a ON DELAY timer r...

Pressure Switch Question

Recently some mice ate through wires in one of my valve boxes causing a valve to not open. The pump didn't like this and eventually broke open a union downstream of the pump discharge. To avoid this in the future, I installed a pressure switch on the pump discharge to shut off the pump if the pressure exceeded the ordinary operating range of 35-45 psi. I set the pressure switch at 55 psi. However, when my orbit timer starts the pump there is a large (70 psi +) pressure spike which immediately sh...

Pressure Control Valve

Thanks Wet_Boots. I'll give the tank and pressure switch some more thought. Mudman

Pressure Control Valve

What pressure control valve have people found to be effective? I have a Goulds 2 hp pump which has a maximum pressure of about 55 psi (128 ft head). My main concern is assuring I don't damage the pump if I inadvertently run it with all valves closed. What pressure do you recommend I set the PCV at? Thanks, Mudman

Best way to expand current system

I'm looking for some creative ways to expand my current system. I want to add 8-10 valves to my system by extending my current trunk line. My current system uses a pump for the water supply and has two Orbit 12-station timers located at the same location. The end of my trunk line where I want to expand the system is 300 ft from the timers and 400 ft from the pump, so I'm trying to do this without running any wires back to either the timers or the pump. I have two valves installed in the current ...
