Brown water in house after system runs

Hmmm,, well, it could be any number of things just off the top of head in no particular order; any iron pipes between your house and the street? does this happen while the system is running? is there a significant change in the water temp comming from the street when the system turns on? does this happen if turn on alot of appliances at the same time in the house? do any pipes shake or vibrate when the systems turns on/runs? when the system is running, does water psi notibly drop in the house?

I have been working on re-starting a 30 plus year old dormant system on my property the past 2 years. just as i think i may have a zone up and going, I discover a wet spot and low and behold I unearth a bubbler/sprinkler. there are a couple area's left that dont have coverage, and in my mind I cant imagaine there is not a sprinkler head to cover that area. So my question; Any tricks to finding these? Ive mea...

What am I looking at?

What you have are 2 zone valves. One mostly unearthed, the other you have the just the tippy top uncovered. As for the controller, if you have a garage start there for evidence of any wiring that may have one time came thru a wall, or something. examine your structure for any marks of piping that was removed or disconnected.

Hardee valve

I just looked and can't see the model #, I had the box totally unearthed 2 weekends ago as this one of those 6" circular valve boxes that are just too small for my hands to work in. I had the top of the valve taken apart, looked at the diaphram had a black slim on it, replaced the O ring and selinoid, I got a new bleeder?screw from SprinklerSupplies4Less.com according to their website this valve is no longer manufactured. This the same zone that been given me fits the whole time I have working o...

Hardee valve

I have a 1" Hardee valve in a zone that I cant get enough flow to the sprinkler heads unless I screw the needle/bleeder out to the point that water is shooting out the bleeder. I replaced the seliond, which helped some, but what could the issue be? Is the valve itself shot? I did remove remove the needle and trimed off a bit of the needle thinking a shorter needle would help, but it made it worse.

I have has good luck with Ortho's Weed-B-Gone, follow label directions. Borax does work, The former owners of the property I bought last year, left a quart of Fert A Loam 'Weed free Zone' spray that attaches with a garden hose. Don't know how old it is, but t price sticker show's $49.99. Good luck so far. Hint; when using any spray, its best to apply it during a prolonged dry spell, with no rain for several day's, before and after spraying. Dont mow for several day's before or after spraying Don...

HOW LONG DOES SEED LAST ?

Depending on what part of the country you live, will depend on the longevity of the unplanted seed. If you live in a very wet, rain, humid area, with bitter winters, the seed wont last as long. The seed companies only guanrantee the seed for 1 year at the germination rate thats stamped on the bag. Thats not to say all the seed in shot at 13 months. Best to keep bag sealed as best you can, in as dry a place as possible. When you go to use the seed even if its years latter, sow it at a heavier rat...

Water Pressure & Conservation

First I would be sure your gauge was accurate with 90psi reading, if so its a good thing you reduced the psi. 90 would be way too high if you have 90psi at all your water taps if this is a residential system, you would be having problems with your toilet flush, dishwasher valves, sink faucets, etc. The greatest impact on water usage would be adjusting the amount of time the sprinklers are on, yes a lower pressure would reduce the amount of water passing thru the head, but the % I am not sure abou...

Which spray head?

As spring is fast approching here in west Texas, I have finished converting a long gone shrubbery bed to a veggie garden. It is along the property line, 3ftx32ft, it has a cedar wood fence along the back, and a cedar wood border on the other 3 sides. With 5 ground level bubblers located in the middle, evenly spaced out the entire length. It obvious the bubblers wont work for a veggie garden as some plants would drown before others get a drink. What is the best height, and best head for a narrow s...

Well I finally got 5 out of 8 zones operational on 30+ year old system. Programmed it to start Sat. am for zones 1-4 starting a 7am, run time 15 min., for each zone. It started fine, went thru all 4, then when it was time to activate the one zone in group B, it started over again in group A and went thru it again. It did this 4 times, on the 5th time it switched to group B, ran as programmed for that zone, then shut-down. Did I miss something in programming? I followed the manual to the letter. ...
