Zone leak--continuous-24/7

One thing that still puzzles me is the layout of the main one inch line. From the back flow check valve and ball shut off, that I installed, the main valve was 70' away and had 2 branch lines before the main valve and four branch lines after the main valve. What is the purpose of this? As I have 7 zones in the front and 7 in the back--maybe there is another main??

Zone leak--continuous-24/7

Finally---after 4 days of digging, cutting pipe, wires, etc--problem solved. Mr Fixit--a big thank you..! I verified the found valve was indeed a main valve as I cut the line, capped it off--and none of my zones worked. This valve was in line to the actual zone valve we fixed. Replaced with new valve and everything normal--including leak. The zone valve on the one inch incoming line must have been missed by the crew that redid the sprinkler system in 2003. From this old valve it ran to three spr...

continuous leak

You were correct. In 2003 a major landscaping job was completed. Found a zone valve in the main incoming 1" line, downstream of 2 other branches. I believe this was abandoned. Assume i should take this out? Have narrowed the single zone leak to 1--. this zone valve on the incoming to my new zone valve and 2.-- a 3' section of the feeder line 3/4"

Zone leak--continuous-24/7

As you suspected, we have found a modification in this zone. Have not yet uncovered another valve--Have 3/4 of the entire zone uncovered. Will complete by the end of the day and will let you know. thanks

correct valve

We know we have the correct valve--loosen the solenoid and the zone works normally. Close the solenoid and the spray stops--but leaks. Have installed an additional ball valve on incoming line to this zone valve..leak continuues. It must have a secondary source of incoming. Leak only stops when main source valve is closed for all zones. Still digging up the entire pipeline Need better ideas !

Zone leak--continuous-24/7

Have only one zone with problem--system is more than 10 yrs old. I replaced one valve with a new one--not one from the same batch I put a ball shutoff valve in the line before the zone valve-since even this did not stop the leak---I can't see how any valve will help? I am in the process of digging up the entire zone trying to ID the source of the additional water in the line.

Zone leak--continuous-24/7

History:- 1 Replaced valve gasket 2 Replaced with new valve; purged; etc 2b switched solenoid with known good solenoid 3 Checked new valve gasket: purged; etc 4 Installed check valve; purged; etc 5 Installed new ball valve inline with zone valve(incoming water)--can not believe this did not stop leak 6 Closed ball valve on main incoming line, down stream of back flow preventer--this stops leak 7 Ordered 12 sprinkler head check valves from Irritrol. these changes were made over a one week time--t...

leaking zone

Replacement part identical. Tightened solenoid--no change. took off bonnet inspected diaphram--no issues. purged system replaced diaphragm and bonnet; turned on main line valve--and YES it stopped leaking (for 10min) . I manually started the zone, ran for 5 min shut down--and the *(^*&(^9969)(*&*&^ is leaking again?????? Shut off incoming line Edit--checked control box 2 X 7 wires--no other connections--so I guess no master valve. Now my master is manual and when it is off the is no leaking

zone valve

We did several things for this problem. Yes, activating the specific zone valve activates the heads normally--and the leak continuues--we did this several times. Also we installed a shut off valve in the main incoming sprinkler line. Shut it off overnight, opened the next morning and same problem--24/7 leak. Activated and ran entire 14 zone system--leak continuues. Shut incoming line off. Not sure what you mean by Master valve? Will google waiting for your reply and TIA jerry in Savannah

sprinkler valve

Have a 14 zone Rainbird system. Have one zone that leaks 24/7. Checked diaphragm, no issues seen: replaced entire valve and system heads still leaked. Replaced valve--followed directions and bled/purged system for 1 minute--no change--entire zone still leaks ?? jerry
