WiFi wall switch to control Pump Start Relay?

My system in Florida is a 220v Pump currently hooked up to a K-Rain controller. I know that there are numerous WiFi controllers on the market and in order to use one I would need to install a Start Pump Relay. The relay would be activated by a 24v power supply located 20 feet away (as recommended) inside my garage. Since I'm running a indexing valve, why can't I just plug in the power supply to a WiFi outlet and control the on/off times that will switch zones with an APP? Does this make sense? If it does, what would be the best WiFi outlet to use. I've heard some sketchy reviews about WEMO.
