The weathermatic unit has its own onsite weather monitor. Seems more reliable than a system via satellite.

Toro sells an Intelli-Sense line of controllers that will receive information on a daily basis to adjust irrigation scheduling.

We are using a Signature series, Constallation, satellite sytem, covering several hundreds of acres, including golf, cemeteries, and parks throughout our city. We have weather stations that indeed assist us in the operation of our irrigation. While I am not familar with all of the current systems our system is new and we are learning a great deal about the management of ourr system and realizing the benefit of intelligent design and and operating systems. If I can be of help I will and feel free to post your questions as to the nature of your inquiry, both of us may learn something.

Satellite irrigation controler/timer

On a recent PBS broadcast the host spoke of a new generation of controllers that will learn of changing weather conditions via satellite. In other words, the controller will learn of pending rain and shut down the irrigation system. I believe he spoke of three manufacturers. Is anyone familiar with this topic?
