oh yeah, we do always use pvc for the valve manifolds. But other than that we don't use any other pvc.
I've been working for a guy and we almost always use 1' or 1.25' black poly for the main line and use screw clamps on all mainline fittings.
Poly mainline only if you use a master valve. That's how I do it. If you use a PVB, make sure your master valve is AFTER the PVB otherwise having the valve before the PVB defeats the purpose of the PVB.
PVC is a rugged Thick pipe able to withstand pressure (constantly) poly pipe is very weak, and designed for use with the lines that have water running through for a certain amount of time. poly pipe will burst and the fittings will seperate under constand pressure.
Definatly do not use Poly before the vlaves or for the manifold (copper or pvc)[

Why use pvc for the main to the valves? Why not use black poly for the whole thing?
thats right...you got it.....try to find a contractor to pull your lines... you will have to be home because you will have to tell him where to put the lines and the lcoation of all your heads
Sure, if we're talking the black poly pipe like is used in many deep wells and as service water piping to homes. Generally comes in 100psi and 160psi pipe and comes in 100' and 500' rolls. We call it black roll pipe and it is manufactured by "Black Diamond".
Btanner,
Can you get poly pipe there in North Carolina?

Any idea who pulls poly pipe in the Rocky Mount, North Carolina area? Our winters are pretty mild in comparison to the North, but I would still like to entertain the thought of poly over PVC on laterials.
