The use of "sprinkler angle valves" to manually operate individual zones is extremely old-school. I saw such systems as a kid. They had no backflow prevention.

yeah- I think i'm picturing the same thing as you boots. There are many houses from the 50's and 60's here that have them at the POC on the service line leading into the house.

In fact, make a photo album of the sprinkler system - what I think you are describing is something that was out-dated half a century ago.

Thank you; I can't seem to upload it, its too big of a jpeg file and very frustrating. It looks like a metal stick with a triangle on top and sticks into the ground into a white pipe (that is in the ground). We turn it to turn it on. I will send you a private email to see if I can send this way. ugh. Thank you again!

Sprinklers turned on by themselves this am (not automatic, manual!)

Our sprinklers turned on this am by themselves (only front yard and they are not automatic, they are manual!). Please advise; We have to turn them on by a long "hook" type thing that goes into the ground. We moved in a year ago and have no idea how long the sprinklers were installed. We assume the same time as the house (1989). Any advice is greatly appreciated!
