Replaced the start-up capacitor and it works like the day it was new. $5.17 sure beats the heck out of the $750 I was getting quoted for installation of a new pump! Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

Berkeley Pump S39518 Wont Start

Yes, its a booster pump and is correctly configured and wired for 120V. It ran fine for about 6 years, then started acting as described late last year. Ran fine the first few times this year but is now behaving the same way.

So this is a booster pump? And it is correctly wired to use 120 volts?

You might get a clamparound ammeter and read currents to the pump motor.

Berkeley Pump S39518 Wont Start

I have a Berkely S39518 pump with PSR-22 Pump Start Relay. Controller and PSR seem to be working fine, as I can see 120V at the pump motor terminals. I hear a buzzing from the motor for about 3 seconds but it won't kick on, then buzzing stops. This repeats every few minutes. It's almost like the pump motor tries to start, then some kind of protection circuit shuts it down. Occasionally (but rarely), it will kick on and everything's fine. Everything else seems to be OK, as it runs fine through all the zones, there's just very low pressure since the pump doesn't start. Any ideas?
