new season problems

after turning on the system for the first time this season, I noticed zone 1 continues running while it cycles through the other zones. This causes a dramatic loss of water pressure as well. Question 1: what should i do about this? Question 2: when i look in the irrigation box outside, all the valves are pointed at differing degrees of on or off. If off is at 9'oclock should all the valves be set at 12 noon?
Question 3: why would zone 1 continue running while system cycles through other zones?
